At last, the wilderness of Paran. It’s a sign of progress but we’re still not there yet. What was before pure desert has become slightly less arid. Small bushes are all around, and even some acacia trees have appeared. In these we have spotted a few furry animals bouncing around, although I’m not quite sure what they could be. Moses sent a dozen spies to run ahead and check out the promised land. One of these is my friend. I was excited to hear what he thought of the final destination, but he came back with bad news. He explained to me that there would be no chance us Israelites could survive in the promised land. I tried to explain to him that God had it all sort it out, and we should keep faith in him instead of fearing the road ahead. But my friend thought this was nonsense. He suggested that we just turn back at this point because he thought there would be no hope. This idea manifested into a mutiny, and they even selected a leader that would bring them back to Egypt. The dissension is really weighing on people like me, and make me question the reason we’re on the trip in the first place.
